The recent news that Stretford High School being expanded is a project that will be developed in the next 2 years. What will this mean to the community as a whole, what does it do for the community ? is it a good thing or bad thing?
What it does show is that Trafford council is hell bent on developing on anything that has grass on it. The only benefits from such a development is the council, pretty soon you the residents and people who have lived around this area will have no green area to take your children or just stroll in the park.

I cannot understand the reason why the school has to be expanded at the cost of the football fields on the park. The school actually uses this area so why build on it. The decision is based on the apparent fact that Lostock school is closing down and that the choice is Stretford high school. If you look at the school they have already got an area that could be expanded without touching the park, but Trafford once again are eyeing up grass areas and parks for them to sell and profit from.
We need to ask our wonderful MP's is this another sell out to the Gorse HIll community. Onlyrecently the Gorse Hill park lodges have been refurbished at a cost of £200.000

So where does this leave Gorse Hill park, a park that was awarded the Green flag award for its historical assetts. The council will argue the fact that it will benefit the education system in the community, but the thing that they are missing is that Lostock school has the room to expand itself without destroying part of the Gorse Hill park.
